14 DAY TRIAL // The rumor that rapper Tyga was dating underage reality star Kylie Jenner of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame has been around for almost a couple of years, which means they got together when he was 23 and she was 15. He confirmed the relationship on Instagram some hours ago.
In recent months, Tyga has been getting increasingly defensive of the relationship, saying it was no one’s business but his own what he did with Kylie. At the same time, he’s been gushing about her on social media, with his latest Instagram post leaving no room for doubt as to where they stand: they’re a couple.
People are outraged that no one has called the police yet, since Kylie is still underage.
A convoluted, scandalous story
As per his own admission, Tyga lives next-door to the Kardashians so they’ve always been on good terms. However, a couple of years back, he started hanging out more with the younger girls, the Jenner sisters, Kylie and Kendall.
At about the same time, he broke up with the mother of his child, Blac Chyna, so no wonder people put 2 and 2 together and concluded that he dumped her to be with Kylie. Again, Kylie was 15 at the time.
For a very long time afterwards and until recent months, the two made huge efforts not to be seen out in public on their own. That changed late last year, when they were spotted out on dates, holding hands, and they started posting intimate (but not revealing) photos together online.
This year, Tyga was asked point-blank if he was dating the younger Jenner, and the first time that happened, he denied it, trying to make the question about race and saying that he could just “hang out” with a girl without being intimate with her.
The second time, he got even more defensive but ironically, also revealed more: if he was dating her, it was between him and her. All that matters is that you love someone, everything else is noise, he added.
Apparently, statutory rape is also noise. “Certain things catch your eye, but only few capture the heart,” Tyga writes in the caption of Kylie’s photo that he posted to Instagram.
His followers are outraged: someone should call the police
This is the closest thing to a confirmation that Tyga is dating Kylie we ever got, so no wonder even his followers are outraged that he would make it on such a public forum.
The legal age of consent in the US is 18, and Kylie has a few more months to go until she reaches it. Perhaps worse than the confirmation that he’s dating a 17-year-old is the implication in his post that they’ve been dating all along, which is seen as confirmation that he got with her when she was 15.
His followers are angry, calling him a pervert and all kinds of names, telling him they should have him reported to the police. Even those who don’t criticize him for dating an underage girl are telling him to leave her be because he’s a 25-year-old man with a baby to care for, so he should find someone closer to his age.
Obviously, Tyga and Kylie aren’t saying anything more on the topic even if fans are growing more upset by the minute. They have already made it clear that they don’t care what anyone has to say about them as a couple.
