Tyan, a well renowned manufacturer of server and workstation solutions, has just unveiled a new LGA 1155 motherboard that supports processors from Intel's Core i3, i5 and i7 ranges, making it the first Tyan board designed for being paired with these chips.

The motherboard itself is built around the Intel Q67 Express chipset and adopts the micro-ATX form factor, which makes it well suited for being used inside embedded systems, according to the parent company.

Outside of its special target market, the Tyan S5515 is nothing out of the ordinary as it comes equipped with the usual four DIMM sockets that accept up to 32GB of system memory.

Right to the left of these, users will spot a PCI Express x16 slot, color coded blue, which is seconded by a PCIe x1, a PCIe x4 and a 32-bit legacy PCI slot.

While this arrangement should provide enough expansion options for most users out there, it goes without saying that Tyan's board is somewhat limited in functionality.

The rest of the S5515 motherboard layout is as simple as it gets, and the only surprise is the placement of the six SATA slots, which were installed along the left side of the PCB.

As it's usually the case with LGA 1155 motherboard, two of these support speeds of 6Gbps, while the remaining four are limited at 3Gbps. An USB port is also placed in the same area as the internal SATA ports.

Moving to the back of the S5515, we find four other USB 2.0 ports, a pair of USB 3.0 connectors, a D-Sub and a DisplayPort video output, as well as two Gigabit Ethernet ports that are powered by Intel 82583 and 82579 controllers.

According to Tyan, the S5515 motherboard is available right now for purchase from its worldwide network of distributors. No details regarding pricing were provided, but these should be available upon request.
