Shortly after Intel has added the Xeon E3-1200 series of processors based on the Sandy Bridge architecture to its offer, Tyan has also announced that availability of two new LGA 1155 motherboards series designed for entry-level servers that target both small business and enterprise server customers.

The first motherboard series that we encounter in Tyan's lineup is the S5510 that includes two new LGA 1155 models and uses the micro-ATX form factor.

Of the two, the S5510GM3NR is a full-featured server platform that is based on the Intel C204 chipset and features four PCI Express x8 slots, six SATA ports with two at 6Gbps, three Gigabit network ports, and IPMI 2.0 support for out-of-band and remote management.

The other model is called the S5510G2NR-LE and was designed as a cost-effective solution based on the entry-level C202 chipset.

Unlike its older brother, this board drops support for one of the PCI Express x8 slots as well as one of the network ports and IMPI 2.0 support, but still packs six SATA ports, two of which operate at 6Gbps.

Both S5510 series motherboards lack integrated graphics support as this feature is only available in Intel's C206 chipset.

The second Xeon Sandy Bridge motherboard series announced today by Tyan is called the S5512 and includes four full size ATX models.

First in line is the S5512GM2NR which is based on the Intel C204 chipset and packs five PCI Express 2.0 slots, six SATA ports with two at 6 Gbps, two Intel 82574L Ethernet controllers, and a dedicated management port with IPMI 2.0 support.

Most of these features are shared with its older brother, the S5512WGM2NR, but this also adds an integrated LSI 2008 SAS controller that drives eight SAS ports.

The other two motherboards are called the S5512GM4NR and the S5512G2NR-LE and the most distinctive feature of the former is its four Gigabit network ports, that are backed by a dedicated management port, while the latter is a cost-effective solution built on the C202 chipset.

According to Tyan, the S5510 and S5512 server motherboards are available through the company's distributors, but, sadly, no pricing details were provided.
