This fall, Apple is expected to bring to shelves new products in its family of mobile devices, including an iPod touch flavor that would sport 3G connectivity, as well as two distinct iPhone models, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

While previous rumors claimed that Apple would bring to the market a new iPhone 4 model this fall, with the next-generation iPhone 5 flavor set to hit shelves only in 2012, new hearsay emerged pointing at the possible launch of two distinct iPhone models this year.

In a recent article, 9to5mac cites “trusted sources” claiming that September will bring along two new iPhone models, one aimed at the lower-end of the market, the other being a high-end device.

According to them, Apple will push out two clearly distinctive flavors of the iPhone two months from now, along with an iPod refresh, though this device was not detailed in the said article.

Although specific info on what the lower-end Phone model would be all about has not emerged until now, rumor has it that it might feature specs closer to the iPod touch that those of the high-end iPhone.

After all, the price difference between the two is significant, and this would be exactly what Apple is considering with that device: aiming at the mainstream market, where Android is gaining significant ground.

However, nothing was confirmed on the matter, although Apple was rumored before to plan the launch of a new iPhone 4 model this year.

In the meantime, we should have a look at a rumor regarding the upcoming iPod touch, supposedly set to arrive on shelves with 3G connectivity on board, AppleSpot.nl reports (via).

Since no specific info on the source of this rumor emerged, it might not pan out in the end, although it would make sense for Apple to add a new, distinct feature to its new iPod touch device. After all, the iPad does come in WiFi and WiFi+3G flavors.

Apparently, the launch of this new iPod touch version, as well as the release of the said two iPhone models, are closely related, and they might occur at the same time in September.
