Gigabyte just announced two new Intel X38 compatible mainboards, the GA-X38T-DQ6 and GA-X38-DQ6, that are coming as the flagship models of the current line of X38 based line of products already launched. As these mainboards from Gigabyte are based on the Intel X38 chipset they are aimed at
either the gaming or the enthusiast market segments and as the X38 chipset is a very versatile piece of engineering they may very well be found even in entry level servers and workstations.

The Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6 and GA-X38-DQ6 mainboards are offering native support for the Intel Core 2 family of central processing units as well as for the upcoming line of processors that are based on the 45 nanometer fabrication process. The two mainboards are also extending the official Intel frontside bus specifications too as they are offering native support for 1600Mhz running FSB, while Intel stated that the X38 chipset is capable of only reaching the 1333MHz speed, according to the news site digitimes.

The two new Gigabyte made mainboards are supporting both DDR2 (the GA-X38-DQ6 model) and DDR3 (the GA-X38T-DQ6 version) memory modules running at 1066MHz and 1600Mhz respectively. Due to the fact that they are coming with both random access memory standards covered, they are not forcing the end user to upgrade the memory sub-system as well and just like most Intel X38 based products they are AMD CrossFire compatible too as they come equipped with two x16 PCI Express 2.0 slots that are capable of delivering a high data bandwidth of 5Gb per second.

As these mainboards are integrating the Gigabyte Ultra Durable 2 technology they are also manufactured with solid lower ESR capacitors that are intended to provide a high reliability and lifespan. Both of these new Gigabyte motherboards are equipped with six Serial ATA II connectors that are offering many RAID and JBOD options as well as a legacy Parallel ATA port that is useful for users still having a legacy IDE compatible hard disk drive or optical unit. Two legacy PCI expansion ports are also provided, as well as three x1 PCI Express slots for newer add-on cards.
