Two more websites accused of distribution of pirated movies are about to be closed as The Motion Picture Association Of America filed a lawsuit against them. It seems like both
Cinematube and Ssupload are allowing the users to view and download BoxOffice movies which are currently in theaters, many of them being created by MPAA. According to Reuters, the two pages are accused of copyright infringement since numerous videos such as 'Resident Evil' and 'Good Luck Chuck' are available for free. The websites are based on users' donations who are continuously downloading movies and, according to MPAA, there were no less than 24,000 unique visitors for Cinematube while Ssupload recorded approximately 55,000 users.
"No matter how you slice it, the sole purpose of these sites is to disseminate and profit from creative content that has been illegally reproduced and distributed. We will continue to scour the Internet for these illegal sites, and through lawsuits such as these we are putting illegal Web operators on notice that they are not above the law and will face serious consequences for their activities," said John Malcolm, Executive Vice President and Director of Worldwide Anti-Piracy Operations for the MPAA.
At this time, the two websites are up and running so the Motion Picture Association Of America has all the reasons to take the pages to the court.
In the recent period, MPAA started a powerful offensive against the websites distributing pirated content, especially the one powered by it. In case you haven't read the news, several torrent trackers were shut down because they were sent to the judge for distributing pirated movies. In addition, MPAA wants to identify the users who downloaded videos from those pages but TorrentSpy and IsoHunt, two torrent search engines involved into the legal dispute, refused to provide the details as their privacy guidelines prohibit this action.
