Herve Leger is the designer to have made the bandage dress famous, as well as the gladiator-inspired shoes. This year at the New York Fashion Week, Mark Azria continued the Leger tradition, only bringing new heights to the already impressively high heels. In fact, the pumps were thus fashioned that no less than two models took very embarrassing tumbles right in front of the star-studded audience, several reports in the media have it.

Leger designs are not for the faint-hearted, and Leger by Azria is no exception to that. It has often been said that women wearing one trademark Leger dress and shoes has no other choice than to strut, which is precisely what most models did that night at the fashion show. Two of them, however, had serious issues keeping their balance in their tight outfits and on their impressively high heels, especially since the catwalk was made of slippery wood as well. Consequently, they fell.

Nevertheless, both models managed to save face in what could have been a very awkward situation. Ignoring the soft giggles that could be heard here and there in the audience, and even the concerned gaze of some, both of them got up gracefully, smiled, re-adjusted their killer heels and just went on with the show, much to the admiration of the public. Neither model was in any way hurt, media reports point out.

The collection was still a stylish hit, fashion-oriented publications say. “Max Azria sent out a compilation of clothes that not only firmly respected the DNA of the brand, but also injected a dose of the new and novel.” FashionWireDaily reports. But that still does not mean that the collection is in any way made for the everyday woman, as it has been created with a genuinely sophisticated female in mind, the kind that only has to walk three feet from destination A to destination B – at the most.

“[Azria used] patchwork mixes of boucle wools, velvet moiré and a series of great distressed snakeskin finishes. He also updated the Leger canon with all sort[s] of incisions, slashes and slits that injected a healthy dose of sauciness into the clothes. Standouts included the tautest of cocktails cut open-shouldered and finished with just [the] right amount of beading, basket weave body huggers in black and burnished metal and a black gun-metal snakeskin skinny mini dress.” the same publication notes, adding that the collection is best described by the “high octane” term.
