A couple of 19-year-old IT students from India have been arrested on suspicion of hacking into the systems of Data Infosys. The youths are said to have used their access to the company’s e-processing systems to fraudulently recharge BSNL prepaid mobile phones.

According to The Times of India, Data Infosys noticed the breach last November during an audit. A complaint was filed with the police and an investigation was launched.

So far, only Kulshrestha Varma and Hardik Sud have been arrested, but authorities believe they’re not the only ones involved in the operation.

Varma and Sud have allegedly used computers in an Internet café to hack into Data Infosys’ website. They’re said to have abused one of the company’s e-commerce platforms to recharge 500 mobile phones with Rs 8 lakh ($12,872 / €9,394).
