Hungarian nationals Beatrix Boka, aged 34, and Aleksandar Kunkin, aged 40, were sentenced to 36, respectively 48 months in prison for their roles in an international fraud scheme that earned fraudsters $550,000 (€410,000).

According to the United States Department of Justice, the two fraudulently listed vehicles for sale on eBay and other similar sites. They convinced potential buyers to wire the money to bank accounts they controlled before actually seeing what they were paying for.

The victims, totaling 36, never received the vehicles they had paid for. Once the money was in their bank accounts, Boka and Kunkin sent most of it to their co-conspirators located abroad.

The crooks pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud back in November 2012.

Besides their prison sentences, the fraudsters have also been sentenced to two years of supervised release and ordered to pay $464,581 (€352,000) in restitution.
