Will the iPod find a way to high-end grounds?

One more about iPods... apart from seemingly taking over the world, these players have started to gain popularity among the high-end audio equipment producers. Not that this was an event unlikely to happen, but seeing Onkyo readying their new media systems with an obvious inclination for the small Apple player was one interesting thing to witness.

Indeed we're facing the imminent release of two units that will complete the portable and house-hold audio centers from Onkyo, two nifty units sporting the classic elite design of the Japanese manufacturer and I must say that they look really good. The CBX-Z10 and Z20 are high-end speaker docks that are the very cool result of blending in a clock radio, a CD player and iPod cradle, all complemented with nifty amplifiers and good-sounding speakers that promise you a lot of quality time.

Both the white Z10 and the black Z20 CBX units sport an AM/FM radio tuner and can be connected to a TV by means of an RCA cable so that you can access data on video-compatible iPods and they can work with auxiliary audio inputs as well. Despite the rather small power these docks are capable of delivering a mere 10W, the internal passive acoustic technologies manage to develop a very rich sound with bass enhancement and detailed vocals you will rarely find in a similar gear.

The Z20 sports a larger cabinet that amplifies the sonic response even more but you must not be worried about the potential vibrations: unlike most other similar equipment, the Onkyo CBX-Z20 sports very serious internal damping technology that makes sure your sound remains pure and you enjoy the best from your gear. Both models start shipping in Japan on August the 24th and the announced prices are $362 for the Z10 and $421 for the Z20.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
