The Syrian Electronic Army, the notorious pro-Assad hacker collective, strikes again. This time, they’ve targeted the official Twitter account of the FIFA World Cup (@fifaworldcup) and the one of FIFA President Sepp Blatter (@SeppBlatter).

The hacktivists used Blatter’s hijacked account to post messages in which it appeared that the official was admitting to corruption and bribery accusations.

Currently, the accounts have been recovered and the tweets published by the hackers have been deleted.

FIFA has confirmed that the accounts have been compromised. The organization is investigating the incident.

Last week, the Syrian Electronic Army took credit for hijacking four Twitter accounts operated by CBS. Earlier this year, they targeted the accounts of US public radio station NPR, the BBC, and the Human Rights Watch.
