Jordan Bradley and Andrew Harvey have been sentenced to 3, respectively 6 months of imprisonment for creating and distributing the TK trojan, released before 2003.
The two British hackers were members of the "TH34t Krew" organization, which was responsible for the appearing of the TK trojan. According to the estimations made by the British authorities, this trojan infected over 18,000 computers, though the Americans consider that the hackers were
able to control a 50,000 computer network, some of the devices belonging to the US' Department of Defense.
The damages produced by this trojan are appraised at 5.5 million pounds. Once on the Internet, the TK trojan, which exploited a Microsoft vulnerability, allowed the creation of a network, composed of the infected computers which could be used to launch DoS attacks on other computers or web sites.
The two hackers were arrested in 2003, after a joint operation of American and British investigators, and they confessed their actions. Another member of the Thr34t Krew, Raymond Steigerwalt, 21, from Indiana, US, was sentenced because of the same trojan to 21 months in jail and $12.000 in retribution.
