Birmingham Police are appealing for witnesses after two security guards were gunned down last night at a concert by top rapper Kanye West. The stewards were rushed to hospital after being shot outside the NEC Arena, near Solihull, West Midlands.
The pair had just ejected a group of people without tickets for the show just before 10 pm, when the gun shots were fired. One of them is in a serious condition in hospital and the other has been released after treatment, West Midlands Police said.
Eyewitness Ellie Collister, from Shropshire told BBC WM,an argument broke out with guards. "There were commotions outside without guns. People were fighting. There was so much conflict between people; we knew something was going to happen. I turned around and saw a big group of guys. I heard a gun shot fire and three people ran away and everyone crowded around. But the police were soon there and the stewards were telling everyone to back off and get inside. After this happened, everyone was scared and worried about going outside after the concert had finished."
Detective Inspector Ian Grant reported: "At this early stage, the motive for this shooting remains unclear but there appears to have been some dispute about gaining entry to the concert."
