The Iconfactory has released a major new version of Twitterrific 5 for Twitter on iPhone and iPad bringing new features, improvements, and fixes to the popular iOS Twitter client.
Available for $2.99/€2.59, Twitterrific 5 for Twitter version 5.0.2 simplifies the reading mode for the built-in browser using Instapaper or Readability, and opens Instagram links in the in-app browser to comply with the new display guidelines.
The app now find tweets in all timelines via “History” search and displays image previews directly in the timeline. The photo viewer now shows borderless images.
iPad users will be glad to see that the web browser now uses the entire screen real estate. Twitterrific also now loads 100 tweets while refreshing or loading more, and it supports a new gesture to quickly retweet with a comment – tap and hold the RT icon on a tweet.
You can tap on a username to open a profile when user avatars are hidden in the timeline, and tapping outside of popup navigation on iPad now dismisses the view.
Searches and Lists in the sidebar are ordered alphabetically now, and the popup navigation and views have gained a bunch of visual improvements.
The app’s integration with Apple’s VoiceOver has also been improved. It now uses a relative date/time on tweets instead of an absolute one. The Load More button also supports VoiceOver accessibility now.
Other minor interface improvements have been incorporated, says The Iconfactory.
As far as bugs are concerned, the development team has been able to fix an issue where Twitterrific would crash with empty Twitter accounts in iOS Settings. Other fixes are listed below.
• Adjusted scroll to top area so it’s less likely to be tapped by accident
• Foreign keyboards no longer cover up the bottom of the compose screen
• Fixed a bug that prevented some of your friends/followers from being displayed
• Replying to your own reply no longer loses the conversation thread
