Twitter for Blackberry was already available in the Beta Zone as version 2.0, with a great deal of enhancements inside, and was just updated with new improvements, mainly based on the feedback the company received from those who gave the application a try. The software comes from Research In Motion themselves, and was meant to provide users with a better experience while accessing the microblogging site from their BlackBerry devices.

BlackBerry Beta Zone members can already download the application, so as to get a taste of the Color Refresh packed with it, as well as of the new options available when composing a tweet, or of the local trends support included with Trending Topics.

The new application version comes with a lighter color scheme that includes a light blue with a shade of white.

The new theme is available throughout the application, and should offer users the possibility to follow where they are in the timeline easier than before.

The nav bar now includes a Trending Topics icon. Local trends support was added into the mix as well, so that users can stay on top of these trends while on the go.

Also, the nav bar enables users easily access their profiles, through an icon that is personalized with user's photo, for easier access.

There are also the changes related to composing tweets, RIM explains. The Tweet composer was hidden on the timeline view, but can be accessed through the new 'Compose Tweet' bar available below the nav bar (as in the first image below).

When hitting the 'Compose Tweet' bar, the Tweet composer will emerge at the bottom of the screen, the same as it would when composing a Tweet via the Menu, or by “using the same hotkey that you would use to compose an email message from the BlackBerry message list (for example, in English, the hotkey is ‘c’ if using a QWERTY keyboard).”

Another option that Blackberry users have when it comes to composing new tweets is to have the Tweet composer available as a static fixture at the top of the Home timeline, just as can be seen in the second image embedded below.

At the same time, the new version of the application comes with various performance enhancements included into the mix, aimed at improving the overall usability the application offers.
