A new flavor of the popular Twitter for Android mobile client is now available for download for owners of devices that run under Google's mobile operating system, namely version 2.1.2.

The mobile application is available for download now via the Android Market and can be installed on all devices running under Android 2.1 or newer.

Weighing in at 1.4MB and available for free, the new application version comes with a wide range of enhancements when compared to previous releases of the platform.

The release notes for the new flavor of the mobile software show:

- Push notifications (v2.1.0). - Multiple accounts (v2.1.0). - Updated home screen widgets (v2.1.0). - Fixed a bug where some HTC users were mistakenly asked to sign in at launch (v2.1.1). - Fixed a bug where all notifications were cleared when logging out of an active account (v2.1.1). - Updates account settings (v2.1.2). - Updates translations for currently supported languages (v2.1.2). - Many more improvements and bug fixes (v2.1.2). All of the capabilities that the application already had to offer to Android users are also there.

With the Twitter for Android mobile client, users can easily post updates on their twitter accounts, while also having the ability to easily view what others have posted.

The list of features the application has to offer includes tweet and retweet, along with direct message, finding and following people, and browsing of interests while on the go.

Moreover, the mobile application enables users to easily share photos and videos from their Android devices, and also to share links, view maps, or perform searches.

“Real-time search reveals breaking news, while trending topics and maps show what’s happening now around the world,” the app's description reads.

“View trends, browse your interests and see suggested users in several categories, including fashion, entertainment and travel, or search to find out what people are saying about topics you care about, such as politics or big sporting events.”
