The Twitter for Android application is the latest official client for Google’s mobile operating system to have a beta testing program set up for its users.

A few months ago, Facebook kicked off a similar initiative for its mobile application for the platform, and today Twitter made a similar move.

Through this program, Twitter provides enthusiasts with the possibility to test new versions of its application before they are pushed to the entire user base out there.

All those interested in the matter can join the beta testing community, though they will first have to register for it.

The process is one similar to that required for becoming a beta tester for Facebook for Android, as users will need to join this specific Google Group, and then go to this webpage to opt in to “Become a tester.”

They will need to register with the same account they use in the Google Play Store and on their Android devices for this to work, obviously.

As soon as the registration has been completed, users will have to hit the "Download Twitter from the Play store" link on the aforementioned webpage to gain access to the latest flavor of the mobile client.

After joining the program, users are advised to turn on automatic app updates in the application, through heading to Google Play Store app > Settings > Check the box next to Auto-update apps.

They should also make sure they install all the updates that are being released for the beta app, since they will include new experiments.

All those who will join the program are encouraged to provide feedback on their experience with the beta releases of Twitter for Android, as Android Police notes in a recent post.

Provided that they find an issue with the software, they should report it through the Report a Bug feature under the ••• icon. They should mention specific steps that can reproduce the issue, and the type of connection they were using when the problem emerged.
