Twitter has just received a major update that brings lots of new features and improvements, but also pulls one from the already available functionalities.

It looks like the developers removed the ability to send a direct message to anyone, whether or not on the friends list. This particular feature caused lots of issues when it got released earlier this month, which is why Twitter decided to remove it for now.

Other than that, the recent updates adds new filters and various improvements:

- Search results now show content that is filtered to the type of moments you want; - After you've browsed through all trends in Discover, you’ll see additional trends about both TV and local content; - Take a screenshot of your verification backup code when you enroll or generate a new one.

You can now download Twitter for Android 5.0.0 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind the application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.
