You could soon see ads showing up in someone's stream

It was revealed that Twitter is planning to bring advertisements closer to its users by including them in their profiles.

According to Re/code, “The ads are separated from other tweets by a small bumper that creates a break in the stream, and a label that reads Suggested by Twitter.”

It seems that, for the time being, the ads will be available only for users with non-verified profiles, namely common people. Celebrities or any other famous personalities will not have their profiles invaded by the random ads.

Why did Twitter come up with this idea?

A representative declared for Re/code that “We’re experimenting with this feature, as we do with all our ad features, in order to create great experiences for our users, advertisers and partners.”

It’s not very obvious how this will improve the users’ experience, but it’s definitely a good plan for the social network to increase the revenues coming from advertisement companies.

After Google and Twitter teamed up, allowing tweets to actually show up on search pages, this move seems to be in fact targeted at people who do not have an account, but who could end up on Twitter from a random Internet search.

Having acknowledged the great influence that they have on people, given that many of us rely on the Internet to find out more about products and services, it comes as no surprise that Twitter is trying find more ways to force the users into seeing more and more ads.

Nowadays, there is no social environment that is not flooded with all type of online ads, so people have grown accustomed with them.

Twitter said that it is still experimenting with the type of enhancement, but there is no reason for them not to go through with the idea, despite the users’ disapproval. No one would like to have some random ads popping up on his or her profile, but it’s not like they have any choice.

So, very soon, you will have to get used to seeing sponsored tweets and ads on all your friends profiles, unless they are famous, of course, and not only on your homepage, as before.
