A new live streaming app makes its way on Twitter

After YouTube was reported to relaunch its live streaming, another social media network announced that the service would be available for its users.

Having bought the Periscope application back in February, Twitter reveals that it is now ready to be installed. The app can be downloaded for free, but sadly for Android users, it is currently compatible with iOS only.

People are now wondering what will happen to Meerkat, Periscope's main competitor and the app that Twitter users have been using so far. Just like Meerkat, Periscope allows people to broadcast moments from their everyday lives for their followers to watch.

But Periscope seems to have just a few more advantages, one of them being a cleaner design which helps users find their way through the options much faster.

What’s more, the broadcasts can be saved and replayed at a later date, unlike Meerkat, where the live streamed video disappears for good once it has stopped.

Earlier this month, Buzzfeed reported that Twitter was restricting the mobile app’s access to its social graph, so that when new users downloaded the app, they would not be automatically connected to the people they were following on Twitter.

It is yet unclear whether the application will catch on despite its small advantages and the fact that Twitter will be promoting it, especially since Meerkat rose to fame in such a short notice.

The Next Web reported that there is even a hearts system which allows users to show their love for the broadcast, but also the possibility to delete any kind of unwanted chats or messages left by followers.

Also, Periscope users receive a notification every time one of their followers starts a broadcast. This is not necessarily a god point, especially if you have many followers who particularly enjoy to broadcast themselves.
