Twitter is continuing its expansion into the media world. More than just about any other social network, Twitter has struck a chord with old school media, TV, movies and sports. Celebrities and sports personalities alike enjoy huge followings on Twitter and most users want to feel connected and closer to these people via Twitter.

Twitter is now taking it to the next stage, partnering with NASCAR to provide a unified experience. Twitter will be debuting a new tool, as part of this partnership, which will allow fans to keep up with all the action during the Pocono 400 race on June 10.

Tweets from several NASCAR related accounts, the official Twitter account of the organization as well as personal accounts of drivers, their families, but also anyone else commenting on the race, will be surfaced and centralized in a single stream.

Of course, you'll be able to follow along as you always did, via the #NASCAR hashtag that will also be promoted during the race. The hashtag will be the way you'll discover the curated stream.

"NASCAR drivers have covered a lot of ground this year — and they’ve done it on Twitter. While @JimmieJohnson was 41,000 feet in the air, he hosted a live chat with fans. When the top Sprint Cup racers took a trip to the White House, they documented every step of their journey," Twitter explained why it and NASCAR are such a perfect match.

"During the Daytona 500, @keselowski found himself stopped on the track during a fire, and shared the view from the driver’s seat. And when you watch @KaseyKahne make his way around the track, you’ll see a hashtag on the back of his car," it added.

Obviously, this is the first of many other such partnerships, or, at least, that's what Twitter hopes. Companies enjoy the increased attention and Twitter gets to cash in on its huge reach. Meanwhile, fans get a better experience, presumably, with someone behind the scenes surfacing the most interesting content.
