Twitter has incremented its Mac client with new photo features, including the ability to post up to four separate images in a single tweet, DM photos, and fixes.

OS X users who prefer the simpler official Twitter client over TweetDeck or TweetBot are now able to send more photos per tweet and also to insert images in Messages.

According to the release notes, “This update brings new photo features to Twitter for Mac.” Users can now “view and post Tweets with as many as four photos (click each image preview to view the full photo) [and] share photos privately in Messages.” The update further includes the usual performance improvements and bug fixes.

Twitter for Mac has stayed relatively unchanged since day one. The client is one of the simplest out there, and many prefer it for its straightforward UI and easy navigation.

Its single-window interface allows for a quick interaction with the timeline, notifications, direct messages, followers, and individual tweets.

Mac users looking to download Twitter 3.1 and install it for the first time will require OS X 10.7 (Lion) or a newer Mac OS, and only a few megabytes of space. The client supports numerous different languages and is available free of charge. Twitter will most likely require a fresh update when OS X Yosemite drops later this month.
