It has launched a new advertising-centric blog and Twitter account

With the kind of funding it's gotten through the years, Twitter can take its time before starting to make some real money. That said, Twitter is as mainstream as it's going to get at this point and there doesn't seem to be much growth left, at least not in the US and the markets where it achieved early popularity.

While it's been banking on advertising for a couple of years now, it's still not seeing much revenue, at least not as much as it could.

But the company is working on it, considering that it still deals with advertisers directly, i.e. there are no self-serving options, it's been doing all right.

In fact, Twitter is revealing that it has 1,600 advertisers at this point and that 80 percent of those that try Twitter advertising stick around.

It's a great figure, to be sure, but it's not enough to keep a site with hundreds of millions of visitors each month going.

Which is why Twitter is working on getting more, the latest step being a brand new Twitter Advertising blog and, of course, a Twitter account to go with it.

"We’ll use this blog and the @TwitterAds account to give you the latest information about our advertising products, share best practices and provide case studies and inspiration from the innovative brands that are driving outcomes through the power of engagement on Twitter," Twitter explained on the freshly minted blog.

"Twitter’s first ad product, called Promoted Tweets, was introduced last year with six advertising partners," Twitter wondered down memory lane.

"Since then we've added Promoted Accounts, Promoted Trends, new analytics tools and additional targeting capabilities. We’ve also grown from that small handful of initial partners to more than 1,600 brands," it boasted.
