It’s no secret to anyone that social networking is gaining more and more popularity worldwide and makes it in the news for almost any reason, no matter if it’s related to faulty privacy settings and service outages, or to enhancing its features. Therefore, the fact that the platforms’ user base keeps growing shouldn’t come as a surprise. One of the social networks that benefit from being advertised in the media is undoubtedly Twitter, since more and more people are still creating accounts and then start tweeting about their thoughts and opinions.

The well-known online analytics company comScore has published a report that adds numbers to the aforementioned state of affairs, saying that Twitter is growing at quite a fast pace, despite the current issues it faces. To be more specific, the social platform had 90.2 million unique visitors in May, as opposed to 83.8 million in April, in other words, it grew by 7.6 percent.

It may not sound like much, but when this increase adds to the ones Twitter saw in the previous months (for example, in March there had been 79.4 million visitors, so in April there was an increase of 5.5 percent), little by little, it piques the Internet users’ from all over the world interest more and more and it gains market share, much to the dislike of other social networks.

However, it should be noted that these figures only refer to the users who actually visited the Twitter.com website, whereas those who use desktop apps or other means to access the company API are unaccounted for. Needless to say, there are a lot of software developers who have realized the benefits a Twitter app can bring, so there are countless utilities that can be used to keep track of one’s tweets, regardless of their OS and without needing to launch a browser and visit the website.

To put it briefly, the comScore report should be used as a guideline as to the status of Twitter on a general scale, since not all its users were counted, not to mention the fact that there are also members who do not even post tweets, but who are just reading the ones posted by others.

All in all, the best interpretation to the comScore data could be summed up by simply saying that Twitter is better than ever, and it does not show serious signs of slowing down, especially since it’s working hard to fix its flaws and keep its 190 million monthly visitors happy.
