Twitter is encouraging celebrities and other people lucky enough to have a verified account to connect with each other.

Since people around the world use Twitter to follow live events, to discuss various issues and to create connections, there is a lot of noise on the platform, sometimes making it difficult to find important things.

This time around, Twitter has taken it upon itself to give a helping hand to its elite users – the verified users. Just like it sometimes creates ways for businesses to make advertising simple and effective on Twitter, the company has now built a feature to help public figures engage more easily with the world via Twitter.

“For instance, we’ve addressed the large volume of conversations verified users often experience on the platform with notifications filtering. And today we’re beginning to roll out two new features to verified users on the Twitter mobile apps: alerts when another verified user follows them on both the Android and iPhone apps and the option to view their verified followers from their own profile on Twitter for iOS only,” reads a blog post from Twitter.

The microblogging platform hopes that this will help verified users connect more easily with each other. There’s also the promise that they’ll work with the media partners to make Twitter more engaging and easier to use.

This is a rather good idea for Twitter, because it offers verified users ways to filter through the countless messages they may get during a certain day and respond to those they find interesting, but also to know immediately when someone with a blue checkmark contacts them.

Since this is a matter of exclusivity, they’ll also certainly feel better for having such new features all for themselves, so perhaps Twitter will manage to raise the level of engagement on the platform, which will also attract more advertisers.

It’s also quite good for Twitter as a brand if these high-profile users, often times celebrities, use the platform to connect with each other and tweet messages back and forth rather than keep their convos to their messaging platforms.

Verified users already have a few perks on Twitter, including the ability to filter down notifications, which involves, for instance, only seeing interactions from other verified users like themselves. There’s also a free tweet analytics tool allowing people to see which of their messages were most popular.
