With the New Twitter now available to everyone, the microblogging platform is not stopping here. One of the big new features in the New Twitter is the support for inline media like photos and video. But it's not limited to these, Twitter can also run and share widgets in the same space.

"The new details pane instantly displays content like photos and videos, and we chose the lending platform, Kiva, to build a widget that works in the space as well," Twitter said in a blog post.

"With this integration, Twitter users can spread word or discover everything they need to know about a Kiva loan with a single click – without leaving Twitter.com," the blog post explained.

Twitter emphasizes the fact that it's offering the platform to organizations and companies trying to spread a social message. Kiva is a very interesting micro-lending company, which offers entrepreneurs from developing countries a way of getting funds from its users.

With the Kiva widget, Twitter users can share a lot more information than a simple tweet would cover. A link to the Kiva website would be accompanies by photos and info about the entrepreneurs that needs the funding and how much more they need.

Users would be able to get more info from the links to Kiva or even send their contributions from Twitter. And then, they can tweet about it, hopefully, spreading the message and get more people to help.

But the widget platform could be used for a lot more than this, virtually any type of content could be integrated. Twitter says that a few partners have already had their content integrated into the site.

While Twitter hasn't revealed any plans, it's safe to assume that more will come of this and that other content will be integrated, from social gaming to more media content.
