Twitter wasn't a hit at the Super Bowl just with the advertisers, it was a hit with the people watching the game as well, which explains why the advertisers are interested. Granted, the most popular moment of the game had nothing to do with the football, it was the power outage.

Incidentally, this was probably the greatest thing Twitter could have hoped for, an unexpected break in the game so people had nothing better to do than fiddle with their phones and tablets.

It makes sense that the power outage would generate 231,500 tweets per minute, as Twitter revealed.

But there were a couple of football moments that got some attention, the 108-yard kickoff return for Ravens TD by Jones generated 185,000 tweets per minute at its peak.

The end of the game came close with 183,000 tweets per minute. As for the most popular players on Twitter, Ray Lewis got the most mentions @Raylewis, followed by Joe Flacco (@teamflacco), Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) and Jacoby Jones.

But footballers weren't the ones most people came to see, anything Beyonce did got a lot more attention than the game. The end of her show generated 268,000 tweets per minute, the Destiny's Child reunion 257,500 tweets and Single Ladies got 252,500 tweets.
