The social site is now built into iPhones and iPads

One of the big, or at least, interesting features in iOS 5, is Twitter integration. Essentially, a social layer is now built into the phones and tablets, independent of any application.

Granted, for a while, it looked like Facebook may have been the one chosen for integration and it may have been a better choice in some cases, but things between Apple and Facebook are a bit tense.

That doesn't take away from Twitter's win though.

As long as you connect with your Twitter account, you'll be able to share things on the site from a number of built-in iOS apps, like the camera, Maps and so on, but also from third-party apps that support the feature.

It really is one of the easiest and most seamless ways of sharing something while you're on the go and since iOS 5 is build from the ground up with this kind of functionality in mind, it doesn't feel bolted on or forced.

"Now it’s even easier to share and read Tweets on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch," boasts Twitter.

"Simply enter your Twitter login information into your device settings, and you’ll always be connected to your Twitter account," it says.

"This means you can tweet directly from Apple apps like Camera, Maps, Photos, Safari and YouTube, along with third party apps, such as Chomp, Flipboard, LivingSocial, Instagram, MadPad, PopSugar, Showyou, SoundTracking and Zynga’s Words with Friends," it added.

What's more, users don't have to do anything, as long as they're using iOS 5 and provide their Twitter credentials, the functionality is there, no need to install an app or anything.

For avid Twitter users, the new features should be great. What's more, it should also drive up activity on Twitter a bit with all of the iOS 5 uses checking out the new features.
