Saudi Aramco might have taken some steps to protect its critical systems against cyberattacks after the massive data breach that occurred in August 2012. However, it appears the company hasn’t done much to protect its social media accounts.

On Wednesday, a hacker that goes by the name of Mister Rero hacked the Saudi Arabian oil giant’s Twitter account, Sophos experts report.

The company quickly regained access to the account. However, the hacker has managed to post a few tweets and change the profile’s picture.

He posted a message in which he explained how he managed to breach the account, sort of.

“Account has been compromised by Mister Rero for through a loophole of Alheczr discovery Joseph hacker to connect with Joseph,” the hacker wrote.

Saudi Aramco has been quiet about the incident and continued posting tweets like nothing happened.

Back in August, a total of around 30,000 computers housed by Saudi Aramco were compromised with the Shamoon malware. Some have appointed Iran as being behind the attack, but the country’s officials have denied any implication.
