The verified Twitter account of Joe Simpson (@papajoesimpson), the father of actress and singer Jessica Simpson, has been hacked.

It’s not uncommon for celebrities to be targeted by hackers. However, in most cases, the attackers abuse the hijacked accounts to promote shady websites and products.

In the case of Joe Simpson, the hacker started posting messages like, “I've used my ‘name’ and abused my power. I've molested multiple and can provide proof. Everyone should know.”

He also wrote, “it's true - i've molested people” and “i've molested kids.”

According to Us Weekly, the hacker managed to lock Simpson out of his account by changing his password. In the end, with the aid of Twitter, he managed to recover the account and removed all the tweets posted by the attacker.

“My twitter account was hacked this evening and some terrible messages were sent from my account. My account has been reset now,” Simpson wrote on Twitter after the incident.
