It appears the official Twitter account of IndiGo (@IndiGo6E), India’s largest low-cost airline company, has been hijacked. On Sunday, someone retweeted an adult picture of a woman from the account.

The offending tweet has been removed by the company’s representatives.

“We are sorry that went from our account. We are investigating whether there was a security breach,” IndiGo wrote to customers inquiring about the tweet in question.

So far, the company hasn’t confirmed if the tweet was published as a result of account hijacking, or if this is the work of a disgruntled employee.

If this was in fact a security breach, it shouldn’t surprise anyone, considering that a fairly large number of Twitter accounts owned by celebrities and organizations are compromised each week.

In this case, it appears to be the work of a troll. However, in most cases, hijacked accounts are abused for spam.
