On Friday, a strange message was posted from the official Twitter account of Egypt’s Ministry of Interior (@moiegy).

“We emphasize that the blood that was spilled today neutralizes the legitimacy of Sisi and Mohammed Ebrahim. And now their heads are on the line,” reads the tweet (translated by Vocativ).

Shortly after, the ministry’s representatives announced that they were hacked by the members of the Muslim Brotherhood, as part of the organization’s cyber campaign.

“For your information, the semi-official pages right now are the pages of the Egyptian police and the spokesman of the MOI. On those pages we will publish our official announcements until we retrieve our pages of the MOI,” officials stated.

However, later, a tweet published from the Ministry of Interior Twitter account claimed that this wasn’t a hack, but the work of a defecting officer.
