She's just the latest celebrity to fall victim to cybercriminals

Famous American singer and actress Cher is very “upset” after cybercriminals hijacked her Twitter account and abused it to promote a shady diet to her 1.5 million followers.

Cher’s followers were the ones who told her that her account was breached.

“You guys I’m really upset about this hacking thing ! What diet are you all talking about ?!?!” the star wrote after recovering her account.

Of course, as many of you know, Cher isn’t the only celebrity whose Twitter account is compromised by diet fraudsters.

A couple of Doctor Who actors, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson, and many others have fallen victim to phishing scams and had their accounts overtaken by fraudsters.

In March, the official Twitter account of South Africa’s Ministry of State Security was also hacked and used to lure unsuspecting followers to a malicious website.
