Twitch is apparently looking into delivering its gameplay streaming services on handhelds such as the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, as the company sees the potential in the mobile market.

The company has just seen the first instance of mobile integration with Gameloft's Asphalt 8, and is apparently also looking at the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS handhelds.

Twitch COO Kevin Lin notes that although there are some difficulties with the specific limitations of the hardware on the devices, they are definitely something that the company is considering, especially when it comes to users being able to watch streamed content.

"Handhelds. That's something we'd love to do. On handhelds it's more of a server/CPU concern, but we definitely want to do it. We want to build viewing apps, that's much less CPU intensive than broadcasting," Lin says to Game Industry.

He has also mentioned that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 integration helped a lot with getting people broadcasting and viewing, and that now each platform accounts for around 20 percent of overall broadcasters, and that a deep level firmware integration in handheld devices might open up even more avenues for gamers to come together and get engaged in streaming or just hanging out.
