Twitch may have chosen Amazon over Google when it comes to being acquired, but that doesn’t mean that its love story with the biggest Internet company in the world is over.

In fact, the company has just announced that Twitch now works with Chromecast, Google’s much-acclaimed dongle.

This means that if you’re a big fan of checking out people’s videos playing your favorite games or live broadcasts, you’ll now be able to sit back and relax while watching everything on your big screen TV.

The site’s Chromecast support extends to Android devices, iPhones, iPads and laptops, which means you’ll be able to cast content to the TV from any device you may want.

You’ll have to open Twitch on your laptop or mobile device and update your apps if they aren’t already at the latest version. When playing a video, you’ll notice the cast icon on the screen. If you’re using Android, the icon is on the top right, whilst on laptops or iOS devices, you’ll find it on the bottom right area of the video player.

Watch Twitch content from various devices

If you want to run Twitch videos from the web player, you can do that as well, but you’ll have to install the Google Cast extension. Of course, if you’re already a long-time Chromecast user, you probably already have it on your device.

The live broadcast will play on the TV, but the chat will remain on your mobile device or laptop. Playback controls can still be accessed on mobile devices, while browsing for new content can be done without interrupting the live video on the TV.

“One of the coolest features about Chromecast is its multi-sender functionality. Any device that is connected to your Wi-Fi turns into a remote control for your TV. This means that while you’re casting from an iPhone, your friend can also control what’s being played on the TV from an Android device or vice versa,” the company announced.

Twitch.tv was acquired by Amazon three weeks back for $970 million (€749 million). The news came as a surprise since everyone thought that Google would be the one to make the purchase, especially considering the rumors that were floating around.

Following the first leaked data about how Google was in the final stages of negotiations with Twitch, however, fans were not too happy about the idea of having Twitch swallowed up by Google and integrated into YouTube.
