Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth will be joining the cast of Sony characters playable in the PlayStation 3 exclusive kart racer ModNation Racers. The famous insane clown, as well as his trademark ice cream van, will be available for purchase from the PlayStation Store for two dollars sometime this week.

This is just one of the many Sony characters that are available for ModNation Racers. Sackboy from Little Big Planet, Krators from the critically acclaimed God of War franchise, Uncharted's Nathan Drake, Ratchet and Clank were all officially modded into the racer and bundled with the pre-orders that were available before the launch of the title.

It proved to be a popular idea and many Sony fans rushed to buy ModNation Racers because of those offers. Back then, William Ho, the director of ModNation Racers, declared that many other characters would follow, depending on players’ requests. United Front Games, the developers of the title, started to fulfill this promise with this recent inclusion of Sweet Tooth on the game's roster of racers.

This comes after the fresh announcement of Twisted Metal for the PlayStation 3 during 2010 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. This new version of the popular Sony exclusive action racer is being developed by Eat, Sleep, Play and the project is led by none other than David Jaffe, the creator of the series and of the first two God of War games. The multiplayer component will be one of the main features of the title, according to Jaffe, as special care is taken by the developers to bring back the gameplay that is a hallmark of the franchise. It will allow up to 16 players to confront each other in online vehicular warfare, while two to four players will be able to battle it out locally by means of split-screen. The PlayStation 3 version of Twisted Metal will be launched sometime in 2011.
