The new Twisted Metal title for the PlayStation 3 has just received some massive news over the weekend, with the new combat racing game from studio Eat Sleep Play getting a fresh gameplay video as well as a release date.

Twisted Metal fans haven't received a lot of details about the new game that will be released for the PlayStation 3, with Sony and Eat Sleep Play remaining content with the small trailer we saw back at last year's E3 conference.

Now, GTTV posted a brand new trailer, filled with both actual gameplay, which emphasizes Twisted Metal's combat-heavy racing mechanics, as well as a few portions of its live action cut scenes, which will be featured in the story mode of the game.

One of the game's designers, David Jaffe, explained that even more news will appear in the following weeks concerning Twisted Metal.

The designer, who previously worked on the God of War series, is certain that the game will amaze players when it is finally released with a very addictive campaign and with a frantic multiplayer mode that will keep players hooked.

Besides the video, Jaffe said that an improved version of Twisted Metal's Nuke mode would also be showcased soon, as plenty of changes were made to it since its reveal at E3.

For those who just care about the outlandish vehicles that will be used by the game's characters both in the story and in the multiplayer matches, Jaffe also says that a unique Battlewagon will be shown soon, which will give the ice cream truck of main character Sweet Tooth a run for its money.

An extended version of the trailer below will also be released in the near future, detailing some of the characters in the game, like the aforementioned Sweet Tooth, Dollface or Mr. Grimm, not to mention the first look at Calypso, the mastermind behind the actual Twisted Metal contest.

Both versions of the video also include the actual release date of the game, which will be arriving exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on October 4, this year.

Until then, check out the new footage below.
