A few days ago, on October 23, staff at Zoo Atlanta went public with the news that the twin panda cubs born at this facility back in July had finally been named.

According to Zoo Borns, the cubs will from now on be referred to as Mei Lun and Mei Huan.

By the looks of it, these monikers originate from a Chinese idiom meaning “something indescribably beautiful and magnificent,” the same source details.

As previously reported, it is fairly uncommon for panda bears to give birth to twins. What's more, when twin pandas are born in the wild, it often happens that just one of them survives.

This is because mother pandas cannot properly take care of both of them, and end up abandoning one.

Luckily, Mei Lun and Mei Huan are well looked after by both their mom and zoo staff.

Truth be told, they have the most adorable eyes, so it's no wonder that mother Lun Lun and zoo employees are bending over backwards to make sure they have everything they might want or need.
