“Twilight” might have generated mixed reactions with movie critics and moviegoers over a certain age limit, but, as far as the segment of the public it targeted is concerned, it fared impressively well. The vampire flick, which has literally made room for an entire Twilight-mania, has just scored no less than 12 nominations at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, as E! Online can confirm.

With so many nods in its favor, the love story featuring a regular girl, Bella (Kristen Stewart), and an almost painfully beautiful vampire with the ability to love and feel emotional pain, Edward (Robert Pattinson), is clearly a favorite. The film is featured even in major categories such as Choice Movie: Drama and Choice Movie: Romance, the same source says. Moreover, in doing so, “Twilight” managed to beat Zac Efron’s “High School Musical” (with ten nominations), Miley Cyrus (again with ten nominations) and even the Jonas Brothers, who will also be hosting the show and who have nine nominations.

The award ceremony will take place on August 10 and will air on Fox. As tradition has already shown us, at this 11th annual edition, winners will also be handled surfboards (as trophies) after they have been voted by fans online. Only fans aged 13-19 are allowed to have a say in the voting process – however, everyone interested in seeing the other nominations (which also include box-office killers such as “Star Trek,” “Fast & Furious,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “Terminator: Salvation”) can do so here.

Proving that “Twilight” is, indeed, a smashing hit with younger fans, the vampire story also won big at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, where Summit Entertainment, the studio behind it, also introduced the first official trailer for the second installment in the franchise, “New Moon.” The film won no less than five popcorn awards at the MTV ceremony, including those for Best Kiss (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart), Best Fight (the epic battle between Pattinson and Cam Gigandet), Best Male Breakthrough Performance (Robert Pattinson), Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart) and Best Movie.
