Tapbots has released the final version of Tweetbot for Mac stamped with a wallet-burning price tag, but also a bunch of features that will make it a must-download for Twitter aficionados.

Tweetbot for OS X is finally in the Mac App Store with features like Multiple Timelines, multiple windows and columns, Notification Center support, Retina graphics, mute filters, the ability to sync a timeline position, support for the likes of Pocket, Instapaper, Readability, CloudApp and Droplr, as well as options to save drafts, add locations and POI's, attach photos/videos, manage lists, and more.

While the software itself is great, the price associated with it is a bit high – $20 / €15.

Tapbots’ Mark Jardine, one of the developers behind Tweetbot for Mac, explains that Twitter’s recent enforcement of token limits is the main culprit behind their decision to price the software a tad higher.

“We spent a year developing this app and it’s the only way for us to be able to make our money back and continue supporting it with updates in the future,” the developer laments.

Until Twitter provides third-party clients with more tokens, Tweetbot for Mac will continue to sell for the same high price.

“This limit and our desire to continue to support the app once we sell out is why we’ve priced Tweetbot for Mac a little higher than we’d like,” says Jardine.

“It’s the best thing we can do for the long term viability of the product. We know some will not be happy about Tweetbot for Mac’s pricing, but the bottom line is Twitter needs to provide us with more tokens for us to be able to sell at a lower the price. “

“Once we use up the tokens granted to us by Twitter, we will no longer be able to sell the app to new users,” adds Jardine, encouraging users to “let Twitter know how [they] feel about it.”
