If you long for that beach body, it is time to get to work. Staying on your iPhone all day is not going to get you any results, so you might as well use it for a good purpose.

The AppStore editors have created a new Collection of apps called "Summer Workouts". The list has 18 apps that will help you understand how to work out, give you timers and all the other bells and whistles and track your movement and calories burning. With just a few exceptions, all the apps in this collection are free, but they do offer additional features via in-app purchases.

First one up is "FitStar Personal Trainer". It won "App Store Editors' Choice & Best of 2013 App" so you know you've got a high quality iOS app here. FitStar is described as an app tailored to you and your progress. At a fraction of the cost of one month at the gym or one appointment with a personal trainer, you can get Premium Experience.

The Fitness Routines were designed by a celebrity in that field - Tony Gonzalez and you will be able to watch Dynamic, multi-angled videos of the moves you are about to perform. Pair it with an Apple TV and you can stream all that content to the Big Screen in your living room.

If you connect your FitBit, Jawbone UP or MyFitnessPal account you can automatically sync your fitness activity and body information.

Nike has two apps on this list - Nike Training Club and Nike+ Running so if you have shoes or other training equipment compatible with these you can sync them right away.

Celebrities Fitness Apps appear to be the new thing now so you can choose between "Coco's Workout World" and "Jillian Michaels Slim Down".

One of the best workout and fitness programs out there is P90X and the official scheduling and tracking app for it is now available. The app is $2.99 (€2.23) but it only offers basic functionality. To get all Workouts you need to pay a premium fee of $59.99. The app is described as a companion app that keeps track of your sets, reps and weights. You can also view your progress, log your nutrition and share your results.

Other apps that made it on the list are: Strava Running and Cycling, Touchfit, DailyBurn, RunKeeper, Fitocracy, Hot5, 7 Minute Workout, Runtastic Pro or Sworkit.
