Businessmen that prefer to store every piece of information into their smartphones would be happy to use Shape Services' small application called Business Card Reader. Fully compatible with the latest Blackberry devices (BlackBerry Tour 9630, BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry Storm 9500/9530, BlackBerry Storm 2 9520/9550 and BlackBerry Bold 9700), the software features multilanguage support and recognizes English, French, Italian, German and Spanish business cards. Besides storing the scanned information as business card, users will be able to save it as a new contact.

What Business Card Reader does is simply use the embedded module camera to scan the business card and then "read" the picture using and advanced text recognition technology, which is afterwards included into appropriate fields of the BlackBerry address book. If they had manually entered a contact with full info completed into every field, BlackBerry users could have wasted plenty of time.

The technology licensed from ABBYY allows the capturing of contact information from business cards and saving it to the BlackBerry address book very accurately and reliable.

Another interesting feature of the software is the possibility to make LinkedIn search of a scanned contact and read a LinkedIn profile without even exiting the program. Business Card Reader can be considered an excellent tool for business professionals, but also for people on the go that want to have everything stored in one place.

Business Card Reader can be used for free as a 7-day trial after which you will have to pay for registration. The registration process requires a PayPal account and about $9.95.

the idea is great but we need a trial, i am not going to pay 9.95$ for a software that i don't know if it's going to work or not.
