It's quite simple to make Linux systems look like their Windows counterpart

One of the good things about Linux systems is that they are very customizable. If you really want to, you can make them look like a Windows counterpart, with very little effort.

Making an Ubuntu or Linux Mint system to look like a Windows 8 is quite simple and it's easily done with the help of a PPA from noobslab.com.

You will need to open a terminal and enter the following commands (you will need root access in order for this to work): sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/icons sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install win-themes sudo apt-get install win-icons To activate the themes and the icons you will also need to install an application like GNOME Tweak (it's usually found in repositories under the name of gnome-tweak-tool).

Enjoy your Windows 8 look-alike operating system.
