14 DAY TRIAL // Shocking images of a woman giving birth in the middle of the street have surfaced from Turkey. CVTV shows the woman leaving her child abandoned afterwards, in the middle of the street.
According to Hurriyet Daily News, the mother was a teenager, and the incident happened in the capital city of Istanbul, in the economically challenged district of Bağcılar.
The woman delivered a healthy baby girl who was named Ecem Ahu by hospital staff, after an ambulance was called at the scene.
Questioned by the police after delivering, the young mother claimed she had no knowledge of the pregnancy.
"Something fell from me. [...] I thought it was a blood clot. I didn't know it was the baby," she reportedly said.
The teenager then went on to admit to being raped, by her boyfriend's brother and one of his friends. Police are investigating the claims, but the alleged rapist is already facing prison time for drug possession, while the other man involved has left Istanbul after the incident.
