The hackers say Utku Kalı is not the one who gave them the secret files

Utku Kalı, the 26-year-old Turkish gendarmerie officer accused of leaking confidential documents on the Reyhanlı bombing to the RedHack hacktivist group, has been released from prison.

According to Hurriyet Daily News, he was released because the court agreed that it was unlikely that he would try to flee. The decision is also based on the fact that Kalı has already spent time in prison.

However, this doesn’t mean the problems are over for the soldier. He faces 18 years in prison if found guilty of leaking documents on the bombing in which 52 people were killed.

Kalı has maintained his innocence, arguing that his commander had asked him to give the secret documents to two civilians.

In the meantime, RedHack members have once again highlighted that Kalı is not the one who gave them the documents. Back in August, RedHack dedicated an attack against the Union of Municipalities of Turkey to the soldier.

Update. While the soldier was in court, RedHack released more files.
