The official website of SANA, the Syrian Arab News Agency, and a number of Syrian government sites have been targeted by Turkish hackers.

The attacked sites include the ones of road regulatory and emergency assistance state services.

Currently, the website of SANA (sana.sy) appears to be inaccessible.

According to Trend.az, the attacks have been launched in response to recent allegations that Syria used chemical weapons near Damascus, killing hundreds of people.

The United Nations and the United States have called for an investigation. Syrian authorities deny the accusations.

Back in June, a Syrian hacker defaced several Turkish websites, including some belonging to the country’s government, in support of the Gezi protests. In July, the notorious Syrian Electronic Army hacked the systems of Turkey’s Ministry of Interior.
