14 DAY TRIAL // Leggings continue to be all the rage despite the fact that many a fashion guru believed they would not last a year. Now, John Lewis in the UK offers the Lissé leggings, which actually help women lose weight and hide nasty bumps and rolls.
One of the reasons leggings are still so insanely popular is that they’re versatile. However, worn with shorter tops, they can also be very unforgiving, making even the slightest bump visible.
This is where Lissé comes in: designed by Beth Gold-Cohen, this is a special type of leggings, one that flatters the shape by hiding minor flaws and helps women lose weight.
It is now available at John Lewis for £45, with Gold-Cohen saying it should be the solution for fashion-related problems of women of all sizes.
“My battle with cancer in 2006 resulted in my gaining weight during treatment. I became more aware of my figure than ever and it became increasingly important to find a solution that would help me regain my confidence,” the creator says.
“By combining my favorite leggings with a high-waist control top undergarment, the result was perfect!” she adds.
The way in which these leggings come to flatter a woman’s body – as opposed to making bumps stand out – is by having “a built-in high-waist control top which is silk lined for comfort.”
This offers an “instant tummy tuck,” the makers say, just like control pants would. In fact, this is who Gold-Cohen came up with the idea in the first place: she was looking for solutions and, for a while, wore control pants underneath the leggings.
“We’re expecting Lissé leggings to be a massive hit amongst British women and the John Lewis customer, as the Lissé figure fixing qualities will appeal to every woman, no matter what their size or shape,” Head of Womanswear at John Lewis, Jo Hooper, says.
