Yahoo isn’t the only one happy about signing the deal with Tumblr; David Karp, the platform’s CEO, is happy as well.

Karp said in a blog post that he was “elated” to tell us that Tumblr would be joining Yahoo.

“Before touching on how awesome this is, let me try to allay any concerns: We’re not turning purple. Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve – certainly isn’t changing,” he said in an effort to put the site’s users to ease.

Since none of the above is going to change, what is? Well, Karp says that Tumblr will get better faster. While their plans remain the same, they now have more resources to draw from.

“Yahoo is the original Internet company, and Marissa and her team share our dream to make the Internet the ultimate creative canvas. I couldn’t be more excited to have her help. We also share a vision for Tumblr’s business that doesn’t compromise the community and product we love. Plus both our logos end with punctuation!” Karp said.

In a similar effort as Yahoo, who promised not to screw it up, Tumblr’s CEO also promised not to let users down.

The young entrepreneur signed his post in his unique style, saying “[Expletitive] yeah, David.”

The deal will only be completed over the next few months, but Yahoo has promised to pay the $1.1 billion (€856 million) price that they agreed on. The sum will be paid in cash, they said.

The company’s board of directors met on Sunday evening to discuss the offer and they all gave Mayer the green light. Early on Monday morning, the company made it official by announcing the deal and giving more details regarding the deal.
