Tiana Parker's hair was styled the same way last year and she received no complaints

An Oklahoma school did not allow a student  to attend classes unless her parents changed her hairstyle. 7-year-old Tiana Parker's hair is coiffed into dreadlocks.

According to Fox 23 News, she had the same hairstyle last year, and nobody seemed to mind. This year she was told that her dreads were a distraction and was sent home from classes.

The girl, whose father is a barber, attended Deborah Brown Community School in Tulsa.

"She's always presentable. I take pride in my kids looking nice," dad Terrance Parker argues.

It appears that the school's dress code actually bans "hairstyles such as dreadlocks, afros, mohawks, and other faddish styles."

Tiana earns straight As and she has moved to a different school, which is more accepting towards the way her hair is styled.
