Tsunami - The Movie

One and a half year after the tremendous natural disaster hit the Indian Ocean coast leaving behind tons of debris and 220,000 human lives lost, two major TV stations have teamed up to make a movie about the biggest natural disaster of the modern era.

BBC and HBO have joined forces (and resources) to come up with what might be the biggest TV movie ever made. The story will be focused on various people who were unfortunate enough to be in the way of the tsunami and on the stories of those who came to help the lucky survivors.

The star-cast includes well known actors such as Tim Roth, Sophie Okonedo, Toni Collette, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Hugh Bonneville and Gina McKee.

The shooting has already started in two Thailand locations (Phuket and Khaolak) but the movie will take long to complete as the post-production will require huge CGI effects.
So, the movie's premiere is said to take place in late December or even early in 2007.

BBC will broadcast the two-part movie in Britain and HBO in the US.
